Going to a Red Sox Game

I grew up about 7 miles from Fenway Park.

When I was a kid, I went to A LOT of baseball games.
In those days, bleacher tickets were $1, and grandstand was $1.50. In the bleachers, you were there for the whole game. In the grandstand, when the game got to the later innings, you could move in closer, even down into the open box seats.

I would leave the house with $5 in my pocket.
The trolly from Watertown was about 30 cents. Plus the ticket, I could buy food, a program, (I think they charged an extra nickel for a pencil) and still have enough money left for the trolly home.

In those days afternoon games were common. You could go into any business and hear the game on the radio. I remember rushing home from school in 1967 when the Red Sox were in the World Series so I could watch the game.

Things were a lot different then.
